General notes:
Connects harbourside with 'The Big Idea' musueum on Ardeer Peninsular.

The bridge is operated by a chain drive. The bridge runs on rollers mounted on piers in mid river and on rails on the north bank. When closed the movable span docks with the fixed span on the harbourside.

The bridge is 80m long and retracts 16.5m.

This bridge is the closest to the open sea of any movable bridge across a river in Britain.

Bennett and Associates were responsible for the detail design of the structure and of the mechanical and electrical control systems.
